The Iowa Council of Foundations (ICoF) was founded in 1998 by representatives from Iowa foundations and corporate giving programs, and has been staffed since 2006. The organization was established as a way to connect those involved in grantmaking to ultimately increase the reach of philanthropy in Iowa. From 2004 until June 2025, the ICoF held the State of Iowa’s “Lead Philanthropic Entity” contract for the duration of the LPE’s existence.
